COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Are you teaching classes offline again?
Yes! Due to the lifting of certain COVID-19 restrictions by the Dutch government on June 1st, MORE than les has started to organize conversational Dutch courses in the Vondelpark for our Intermediate and Advanced groups. Of course with a safe 1,5-meter distance from each other. When the weather isn’t good enough to meet at the park, we teach the class online via Zoom.
We are always monitoring the COVID-19 developments in the Netherlands closely, and are very conscientious about the safety of both our students and teachers.
What can I expect from a conversational class at the park?
You can expect lots and lots of practicing Dutch! During the conversational course, we will help you put all the grammar from previous courses and the grammar of the conversational course to practice during exercises and conversations with each other. Don’t worry about making mistakes, because that is an important part of the process. We are here to help you become more confident in speaking Dutch!
What happens if I have a cold?
We follow the RIVM guidelines of the Dutch government very carefully and ask any student or teacher to stay at home if they’re experiencing any COVID-19 related symptom(s). We have a wonderful group of teachers who are always ready to fill in if needed, so the class can continue safely. And we will send the student(s) who are unable to join the summary of the class and the homework for next week.
Do you also teach classes online?
Do you offer private Dutch coaching online and offline?
Yes! If you are looking for Dutch tutoring to reach a specific goal like passing the inburgeringsexamen, or if you would like to improve your Dutch in a personalized one-on-one setting then private Dutch coaching is for you! Reach out to us to plan your first session.
How many students have had classes online?
We have taught over 200 students online, and are still counting!! After work, students join one of our courses and learn Dutch. Check our reviews here to read what our students have said about our online Dutch courses.
How many students have had classes online?
In these trying times where social contacts are limited, it is even MORE important to socialize and put the extra time at home to good use and improve a vital skill. This is especially true for expats who already started an adventure by deciding to live in Amsterdam, who like to get to know new people and obtain new vibes. MORE importantly, you get to learn or improve a new language from the comfort of your couch or ‘gezellig’ in the park. And when we can head out safely more and more, you will be able to say, confidently, “ik heb je gemist”, and, “ik wil graag een biertje!”.

How will the online classes be different from face-to-face classes?
Besides the fact that you can enjoy the class from the comfort of your couch via Zoom, online classes will not differ largely from face-to-face-classes. We are with a maximum of 8 students instead of 10. We do a lot of online games and use break-out rooms within Zoom, so you can practice conversations with smaller groups and learn Dutch online in a fun way! Our classes are energetic as well as informative. Thanks to the creativity of our teachers, classes are still as practical, interactive, and personal as before. As with offline courses, we will give you more or less 1 hour of homework per week.
What technical equipment do I need to attend the online classes?
All you need is a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone so we can connect with each other and have conversations in Dutch. Zoom can be accessed via a browser and does not require the installation of an app or program.
Can I miss an online class??
We understand that you might not be able to attend every class, either because you have a deadline for work, a Zoom-call with the States, or an online date that you have been looking forward to, since ever. We will send you a summary of what we have done in the class and will send you the homework. Do you have a question about the information you have missed, then please send an email to your teacher, and he/she will help you as soon as possible.
How safe is Zoom?
To ensure maximum safety, all of our calls are routed via European servers (if possible). If your company has compliance issues with Zoom, we are happy to work out a solution for your team.
Will there be other formats offered by MORE than les?
We are working hard to offer new ways to practice all that you are learning. Stay tuned for online and offline borrels with games and other events that will help you further deepen the knowledge from our online classes in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
